Buwama Bunjaako Outreach

Birungyi, Barata and Associates have an outreach program at Bunjaako-Buwama, Mpigi District. This is an area at the Lake Shores of Lake Victoria in the Central Uganda District and comprises mostly of fishermen and their families with limited access to clean and safe water, educational services (Only one Primary School), medical services, legal services, lack of electricity among others.

The program is run on a semi-annual basis with intervention focusing on improving quality of life.Through our outreach program, Birungyi, Barata & Associates provides:

  1. Medical Services particularly HIV Testing, Sensitisation on Family Planning, Family planning kits;
  2. Educational Scholastic: The Community has only one School catering to Six Villages up to Primary Four. The school is named Bishop Senabulya Nursery and Primary School. The Community has not appreciated the value of education and most Children are not in School.

The firm carries out sensitization to the parents and children on the advantages of going to school and provided materials including Textbooks, Teacher’s Guides, Pencils, Pens and Exercise Books to the Primary School;

  1. Legal Aid to the poor especially on Land matters, Family Law and Criminal Law;
  2. Child Hygiene and Sanitation through providing Reusable sanitary towels to Girls aged 10 to 17 years, oral hygiene by providing toothbrushes and toothpaste to all children of the school and in the neighborhood.

The firm also supported homesteads with clothes, blankets, purifying water tablets, mama kits for pregnant women among others.
